The chapter explains the internal structure and representation of GRAPNEL programs as well as the transformation mechanism by which a GRAPNEL program is translated to a C/C++ source program by the GRP2C pre-compiler. Various logical layers of GRAPNEL applications are also discussed including the interface between the GRAPNEL and the PVM level communication instructions.
