ITiCSE 2005 – Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education

The conference theme is “Teaching Computer Science in Interesting Times”. What is it that makes these “interesting times”? Among other factors, the rapid emergence of new or expanding computing sub-disciplines; new technologies; new pedagogical approaches; as well as serious ethical and societal challenges arising from the pervasive application of technologies of computing and communication in everyday transactions, education, international law, and in response to exceptional circumstances in modern life.

Conference will cover the teaching on new or expanding computing sub-disciplines and new technologies: computer security, data mining, and such interdisciplinary offerings as bio- and medical informatics, wireless and mobile networks, advances in signal, text, and speech processing, nanotechnology for “smart devices”.

Conference will also cover new pedagogies and innovation in the practice of computer science education: pedagogies of engagement as well as innovative use of intelligent tutoring systems, mobile computing, distance education, visualization, and web-based tools.
