  • Third Workshop of the Doctoral Program in Computer Science

  • The 3rd edition of the Workshop of the Doctoral Program in Computer Science of FCT NOVA was held on May 23. The workshop included two invited lectures by Darius Blasband (CEO, Raincode) and Jamie Callan (Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science).

    Darius Blasband in his lecture "The Rise and Fall of Software Recipes" presented his perspective on the industrial development of software engineering projects.

    Jamie Callan gave an overview of recent research at Carnegie Mellon to improve the efficiency and accuracy of text search engines.

    The workshop included a panel on Artificial Intelligence, moderated by students of the program, with the participation of Arlindo Oliveira (IST), Luís Correia (FCUL), Nuno Boavida (FCSH NOVA) and João Leite (FCT NOVA).

    The program also included a session of two research talks by recent PhD program alumni and twelve flash talks by ongoing students.

    The main objective of this workshop series is to share and discuss the ongoing research work of students from the Doctoral Program in Computer Science, with other students, teachers and all of FCT NOVA community.
