  • According to Hiroshi Ishii, MIT Media Laboratory, and invited speaker for the Department of Informatics (DI FCT NOVA) and NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science and Informatics (NOVA LINCS) Distinguished Lecture 2019, “we still have a limited view of the potential of technology. That's what we want to change with Tangible Bits by reminding people that technology can include moving and breathing materials”.

    Hiroshi Ishii is a distinguished scientist, awarded in 2019 with the Association for Computing Machinery (USA) Lifetime Research Award for his fundamental and influential research contributions to the field of human-computer interaction in the past quarter century.

    This 8th edition of the Department of Informatics and NOVA LINCS Distinguished Lecture Series took place on December 19, 2019, and offered the whole academic community a truly inspiring talk on new ways of thinking about digital technologies and the interaction between people and technology.
