Computational Classification: Whats and Whys

Computational classification is, in my view, part of knowledge representation and reasoning.
Conventionally, classification is considered as actual or ideal arrangement together of those which are like, and the separation of those which are unlike, to advance at least one of these goals: to analyze the structure of phenomena; to relate different aspects of a phenomenon in question to each other; to shape and keep knowledge.

The talk reviews and illustrates concepts and tools related to each of the three goals, with pointing to specifics of tasks and methods.
