LazyDB: Using Semantic Reordering for Improved Commit Rate

Recent work on reconciliation in optimistic replication systems has
shown that it is possible to minimize the number of aborted
operations by reordering them. In this talk, we present LazyDB,
a system that leverages this idea in a non-replicated architecture.
In our system, when a user submits an update operation, the system
immediately informs the user if the operation will be executed with
success or not. However, the system reserves the right to reorder
operations until a deadline specified by the user. This allows, in
some situations, to commit additional operations that would
otherwise be aborted, by reordering operation execution.
