Mobisnap: um sistema de bases de dados para computação móvel

Mobisnap is a relational database system for mobile computing. In this presentation, we will describe the three main data management mechanisms: mobile transactions, reservations and reconciliation. Mobile transactions are small PL/SQL programs that execute both in the mobile clients and in the server. This approach allows the definition of transaction-specific conflict detection and resolution rules. One reservation provides some guarantee (depending on its type) upon the future database state. Mobile clients obtain leased reservations before disconnecting. These reservations are used to independently guarantee the result of mobile transactions. Mobile transactions received from mobile clients may conflict. The reconciliation mechanism tries to optimize the sequence of mobile transactions that can be executed successfully. To this end, our approach explores the semantic information automatically extracted from mobile transactions’ code.
