Publication date: 1 de June, 2021Strategies and Patterns to Migrate Legacy Systems to Microservices Architecture based Solutions
Microservice architecture based applications popularity is possibly one of the contributors of the success of the so called “cloud-native applications”. In fact, not only microservice but also container-based approaches are associated with the boom of this type of architecture from an industry point of view. However, several applications deployed in the cloud are originally legacy applications that have been placed in virtual machines without adjustments in the architecture. This tends to hamper the expectations regarding cost, performance and complexity. Moreover, assuming the same reliability of resources and services of a traditional data center as in a public cloud can probably result in technical failure and economical loss. This talk presents and discusses strategies and patterns to migrate legacy systems to microservices architecture based solutions and our current experience in this scenario.
