Publication date: 1 de June, 2021The computational engine of biological big data discovery
Decoding the function of the human genome and finding ways to limit the impact of disease requires systematic, large-scale analysis of very large volumes of biomedical data. In particular, this requires both deep and comprehensive analysis of the fundamental biolmolecular agents of cell dynamics (i.e., proteins, metabolites and other endogenous molecules), which are overwhelmingly analyzed using mass spectrometry (MS) instruments. We will describe recent state-of-the-art advances in algorithms, systems and crowdsourced platforms designed to enable terabyte-scale distributed MS data analysis and curation, including our recent GNPS publication in Nature Biotechnology (PMID:27504778).
