Rui obtained his PhD in Computer Science in 2017 from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT-UNL), his MSc in Computer Science and Informatics in 2008 also from FCT-UNL and his BSc in Electrical Engineering in 1998 from the same University. He is Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, School of Technology of Setúbal (ESTSetúbal-IPS), Integrated Researcher at NOVA-LINCS and Collaborating Researcher at the Telecommunications Institute of Lisboa. He was the Head of Centre of SustainRD - Research Center for Engineering a Sustainable Development at ESTSetúbal-IPS between 2019 and 2023. He is also a member of the Technical-Scientific Council of ESTSetúbal-IPS. He has published 10 articles in specialised journals and he has 5 book chapters. Organised 2 events. Supervised 1 doctoral thesis and he is supervising 3 other doctoral thesis and co-supervising one more. Advisor of more than 12 master's dissertation(s) and co-supervised 3.
