  • Scientific Visualization - Techniques for Scalar Data
  • The main goal of Scientific Visualization is to enable scientists to observe and understand data in a more efficent way - tools and techniques are used to convey large amounts of scientific data as images. In this talk we start with general SciVis concepts such as the dataflow model. Then we introduce two major but simple visualization techniques for scalar data: contouring and isosurfacing. Within the context of rectangular grids we show the way these two techniques have evolved. Finnaly we propose modified methods for drawing contour lines and isosurfaces.
