Manuela Pereira

Manuela is an Associate Professor at the Dept. of Informatics, University of Beira Interior, Portugal. She received the 5-year B.S. degree in mathematics and computer science and the M.Sc. degree in computational mathematics from the University of Minho, Portugal, in 1994 and 1999, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in signal and image processing from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France, in 2004. Her main research interests include image and video coding, multimedia technologies standardization, color models in image and video coding, signal processing for telecommunications, information theory, real-time video streaming, 3D and 4D imaging, medical imaging, and image/video quality metrics. She is a Portuguese delegate to ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 and to the JPEG standardization committee. Published 37 articles in journals. Has 2 section(s) of books and 3 book(s). Supervised 2 PhD thesis(es). Supervised 7 MSc dissertation(s). Participates and/or participated as Principal investigator in 6 project(s) and Researcher in 6 project(s).
