João Moura Pires is (since July 2000) Auxiliary Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon. He got a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering in 1984 by the University of Angola (and its equivalence by University of Porto). In 1991 got an M.Sc. equivalent by the New University of Lisbon. In 2000 he got a Ph.D. in Computer Science, by the the FCT NOVA University, Lisbon. His current research interest lies in the following topics: Data analytics, Data Mining and Data Visualization and in particular Spatio-Temporal Analytics and visualization. Previous research interests include Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Constraint Programming, Fuzzy sets and Fuzzy Logic. He successfully supervised 3 PhD students and more than 30 of MCs students. He organized or collaborated in the organisation of several Scientific events.
