[PhD] - Crossing borders. The brushstroke of a modernist Portuguese painter

This project suggests an innovative and interdisciplinary strategy to the investigation of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso’s works. Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887-1918) was one of the most innovative Portuguese modernist artists. Two different approaches to the study of painting techniques will be carried out and compared:
1) The characterisation of the materials and the techniques of Cardoso’s works.
2) An image computer analysis of the brushstroke.
