Deep Semantic Entity Linking

In my PhD research, I tackled the challenge of extracting and linking biomedical information from diverse text sources—such as scientific articles, chemical patents, and clinical records—to semantic resources and biomedical ontologies. This work addressed, among others, the challenges of handling new entities not yet captured in structured sources.
In this talk, we will discuss:
  • Entity extraction from biomedical text and the complexities of linking entities to ontologies.
  • Strategies for handling novel entities not yet represented in existing ontologies.
  • Practical applications of these methods and future directions for NLP and AI in the biomedical domain.
