Nuno Cavalheiro Marques completed his PhD in Computer Science in December 1999 at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. His research has pioneered the application of artificial neural networks, particularly in innovating their usage for the automated processing of Portuguese text. He has published the results of his scientific research, demonstrating their application to real-world challenges across various domains: text (currently configuration of generative pretrained models), financial data, civil and software engineering, oceanography, and education. Presently, he is actively involved in research at NOVA LINCS in the field of Multimodal Systems and Artificial Intelligence, collaborating with the Portuguese National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC). The research work centers on applying Deep Learning neural methods to text and data mining, Ubiquitous data mining, data stream mining, and neuro-symbolic encoding in deep learning systems. He has successfully supervised 2 PhD students and +25 master's theses.
